their safety, no children are allowed in the lab.
You
are not allowed to make any changes to the hard drive, i.e., cant load
any new software.
DO
NOT store documents on the hard drive. Students must bring their own floppy
or zip drives to store their work. Put your name on your disks! If your
disk is lost, check our lost and found box. We are not responsible for
your disks!
DO
NOT change any system settings!
Respect
the dignity of others in the lab (space, noise, environment)
Internet
Access Policy
Internet/Web
access is limited to class assignments and web research for class assignments.
Personal
web browsing and e-mail are LOW PRIORITY ACTIVITIES and cannot be done
when the lab is in demand.
NO
PRINTING of web pages!
NO
DOWNLOADING of software to the hard drive!
NO
GAME PLAYING!
NO
CHATTING!
Use
of the Computer Applications Lab for browsing sites that may be offensive
to others (e.g. pornographic, racial superiority groups, etc.) is NOT
ALLOWED! This is a public, shared lab and all value systems must be respected.
Printing
Conserve
paper whenever possible.
Only
print the pages that you will be turning in, not accounting notes, menus,
web pages, help files, etc.
If
you are experiencing trouble with printing, dont keep hitting the print
command, ask for a lab assistant to help you!
When
printing merged documents or data base reports for the first time, please
get assistance with the setup from the lab assistant so you dont accidentally
print all the reports or letters, etc., for all the records in the data
base. Sometimes these are tricky!
Virus
If
you are suspicious of your disk having a computer virus, have a staff
member scan it. If a virus message shows up on the screen, STOP and get
a lab assistant to look at it. We have virus protection software on our
systems, which catches most viruses, but we make no guarantees!
Logging
In
There
is a computer dedicated to log in. Log in is regulated on a class by class
basis. If you are required to log in, your teacher will provide you with
a log in number during class. Some classes, such as CS101L, do not require
log in.
